Ok lovelies, bridal 2014 is rapidly approaching so I thought I would share some ideas and observations I am noticing that are going to be popular. Feel free to add your own “looking forward to” & “loves” for the year ahead. At Popcorn Photography, we photograph 50+ Weddings per year and immerse ourselves in every detail. So, I’m going to pick a new topic each week and this week it’s all about the gown.... so here we go:
2014 is more unconventional than ever - thank God as I have had enough same same same to last a lifetime!
Colour & Printed fabrics
Vera Wang – has gone edgy by combining black and white, including opera length black gloves.
Oscar de la Renta, featured blue and pink
Monique Lhuillier did washes of yellow
Heidi Elnora has gone full bloom with her 2014 Spring “Valerie Lynn” gown which is hand printed silk jacquard.
High Low, Knee length & Tea Length: work those legs ladies as shorter gowns are the way to go!
From long sleeves, illusion necklines, sexy backs to cover-ups it’s all about lace, beads, applique and rich texture. Think 1920’s glamour aka The Great Gatsby inspired decadence!
Overall, the Designer that continues to wow and inspire me is Claire Pettibone (below). Her gowns are delicate, unique, feminine & filled with whimsy. In my opinion her collections are the absolute standout in the sea of bridal blah.
Until next time
